Once an individual has passed away, the friends or family members will need to seek funeral or cremation services in Hilton, NY. These events can be very busy with the planning and functions that might be happening, but once they are completed and things calm down, it might bring a sense of confusion, and the grief can begin to be processed. There may be more challenging days during the year, like birthdays or other special days, so here are some ways to navigate them and celebrate the individual after they are gone.

Include them in the Day

If it's coming up on the individual's birthday or a special anniversary, you might want to consider going to a favorite place they had. This could be having lunch at a local restaurant that they enjoyed or even preparing a meal that was a favorite of theirs. You can also set out decorations or purchase items you know they would have liked that can be included in future celebrations.

Do Something They Loved

If the deceased loved to go camping, you might consider setting up a trip to have that experience. Or, if they contributed to charities, it can be a healing experience to make a donation and offer your time to help others in need in their name.

Wear Something Familiar

Clothing is something that's frequently held onto, and there might be a special article such as a hat or scarf that you may have kept. Whether you decide to wear it or bring it with you, it can be comforting to have the item present, especially if it was something you know the individual truly loved.

Change an Old Routine

With the transition like a loss, individuals will need to start learning to live their life differently. If some specific traditions or activities take place on certain days, it can be helpful to create new customs such as watching a different movie or taking a trip to a new location.

Create a Memorial

Plants and gardening could be incredibly therapeutic for some, and if the individual was an avid gardener, it could be healing to create a small garden space or plant flowers that remind you of them. This can get you some fresh air and give you something you could take care of that reminds you of the loved one.

Giving you Quality Care

One aspect of loss is remembering the good memories and not just their missing presence. It can be helpful to make those special days extra special and do something intentional to help honor them because this can promote healing and a sense of connection to the individual.
