Matt Trabold
Passed away suddenly on April 1, 2021. He is predeceased by his grandfather John Trabold, grandfather and grandmother Ed and Irene Resavage and uncle Paul Witkowski and survived by his parents Mike and Julie, brother Kevin, grandmother Beatrice, uncles Tom (Nancy), Rick (Christina), Joe and Chris (Maureen) Trabold and Ed (Tore) Resavage and aunts Jean Witkowski and Kathy (Joe) Kardesh, many cousins and countless friends.
Matt was a fantastic son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, known for his deep and loyal love of his family and friends, intelligence, kind spirit, big heart, great sense of humor, strong work ethic, relentless support of his alma mater Penn State, and passion for movies, comedy and, especially, sports.
Matt’s sports knowledge was encyclopedic, particularly as it related to college basketball. He conversed regularly with many players and coaches, even at the NBA level. In his time at Channel 13 he was a huge proponent of local sports, and was one of the most recognizable faces on the Rochester high school sports scene, consistently celebrating the achievements and efforts of the region’s players and coaches.
We are so proud of Matt. The positive impact he had on the lives of those around him can not be overstated. We are heartbroken and will miss him terribly, but will always cherish the time we had with him and hold his memory in our hearts forever.
There will be a small family burial service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. We are planning a celebration of Matt’s life in the near future and will be providing details soon. We are also researching the establishment of a journalism scholarship in his honor at Penn State and will communicate specifics soon for those wishing to contribute in lieu of flowers.
