Beverly (Wood) Eisenbraun

Passed away peacefully on November 25, 2022, at the age of 93. Bev was born on October 18, 1929, to Amy and T. Howard Wood. She is predeceased by her mother and father; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Harriet Wood; her nephew, Thomas Wood; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lois and Raymond Skuse; and her forever friend, Audrey McIntosh. Bev is survived by her loving husband, Vernon Eisenbraun; her four daughters, Jill Eisenbraun, Lynne (Jim) Brady, Kim (Andy) McOmber, Lisa (Kurt) McConnell; grandchildren, Lee (Tara) McOmber, Erik McOmber, Colette McConnell; great grandchildren, Ethan and Ava McOmber; Nephew, Charles (Judith) Skuse; Nieces, Carol Reeners, Amanda (Kerim) Agalar, Katherine Skuse; special cousins, Alan Eisenbraun and Kathy Revelle; and her forever friend, Audrey Holly.

Bev was a lifelong resident of Rochester, NY. She graduated from Charlotte High School, Class of 1947. She graduated from the University of Rochester School of Nursing, Class of 1951. After staying home to raise her children, she went back to the U of R School of Nursing and received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1975, and then her Master’s Degree in 1987, specializing in community health and oncology. Bev worked as a public health nurse for the Monroe County Health Department and for the U of R Medical Center Community Health Nursing Department where she developed her case load around her special interests in cancer and geriatric nursing. She was a member of several professional nursing organizations and volunteered extensively at the American Cancer Society for many years, leading and serving on multiple committees related to professional education. She was awarded the Public Health Nursing Award from the American Cancer Society in 1981. She loved her profession. As part of her work, she did hospice nursing professionally for two years. She retired in 1998 at the age of 69. This led to volunteering at Journey Home hospice house for 14 years. She felt that, perhaps, she could make a difference in people’s lives as they transitioned from this life to the next.

Bev and Vern were introduced on a blind date. This led to a lifelong romance and 72 years of marriage. Bev’s love of her family was foremost in her life. She and Vern were often found attending events and activities that their children and grandchildren participated in. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years when her daughters were growing up. She attended countless baseball games, band concerts, tennis matches, and swim meets for her grandchildren. She was very proud of all their accomplishments. She was especially proud and happy that her granddaughter, Colette, followed in her footsteps and chose nursing as her profession. She loved being Grandma and GGma. Bev always looked forward to the annual family trips to Chatham, Cape Cod, where they have vacationed for over 60 years. She enjoyed the beach, shopping in town, and daily happy hours on the deck. This led to her children, grandchildren, and now her great grandchildren carrying on those annual vacations and loving the Cape as much as she did. Bev was a devoted member of Hilton Baptist Church for over 30 years where she was as an active member of the Worship Dept. and served as Sunshine Lady for over 11 years. She was a long-time member of the Thursday Morning Ladies Bible Study group, who shared a special bond. Bev was very proud of her British roots. Her mother and her family emigrated to the U.S. in 1915. On one trip back to her family’s homeland, she was thrilled to see the house her mother grew up in before coming to America. She and her cousin, Kathy, spent many hours sharing family stories and information. She was a diehard Royal watcher and kept up with all the latest news of the Royal Family. Bev was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles.

A private interment will be held for the family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on February 18, 2023, at Hilton Baptist Church, 50 Lake Ave, Hilton, NY.
