Rochester - Carol A. Moynihan (nee Steigerwald) died November 25th, 2018 at age 77 surrounded by her family, after a 2 month battle with lung cancer. Predeceased by her parents, husband Joseph, son Timothy, great-grandson Phillip. Carol is survived by her brother Robert (Kathleen) Steigerwald; her eleven children: Martin, Joseph (Christine), Kevin (Barbara), Claire (Tom) Tincher, Sheilagh (Gary) Riley, Anne (Mauricio) Ramos, Eileen (Michael) George, Kathleen (Bill) Greer, Patricia Moynihan (David), Caroline (John) Herberger and Patrick (Lisa); 34 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

After graduating St. Alphonsus Grammar School, she was a member of the first class to enter and graduate from newly built Mount Carmel High School in Auburn, NY. One among many firsts! She later graduated from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. Most of her nursing practice was in geriatrics and administration at St. Ann's Home, retiring after 23 years. At age 24, Carol married Joseph Moynihan in 1965. Joe was a widower with ten young children whom they raised along with two blessed additions. Carol was the matriarch and the glue that held the family together. She had many friends, an infectious laugh and loved to host a good party. Carol and her family enjoyed summertime at Thousand Island Park for over 50 years. We will all miss her take-charge and fun-loving spirit.

Friends may call Friday, November 30th from 4 - 7 pm at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road in Greece. Her funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9 am at St. Louis Church in Pittsford, Internment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sisters of St. Joseph or Hildebrand Hospice Care Center.
