Christine Marie Brown, of Greece, NY, passed away peacefully on March 21st, 2025. She was born on May 26th 1952, in Greece, to the late Patricia and Walter Schulick.
Christine attended Catholic grammar and high schools and graduated from Cardinal Mooney in 1970. She went on to study music at Nazareth College, where she earned her Bachelors in 1974. In July of 1977, she married Duncan Brown, and they welcomed their two loving children, Jacqueline (Jackie) and Stuart (Stu) in 1978 and 1982, respectively.
A dedicated music teacher for much of her life, Christine started teaching private piano lessons at age 16. Hundreds of students learned the fundamentals of piano and voice from Christine throughout the course of her 51 year career, some of whom studied with her from childhood through adulthood. She accompanied instrumentalists throughout her career, as well, including her children, in addition to playing gigs out on her keyboard. Christine’s life was infused with music – she loved all genres, especially piano concertos, the works of Liszt and Chopin, and Metallica. Some of Christine’s most special teaching and accompaniment moments happened when teaching and playing for her beloved granddaughter, Julia. Spending time with Julia was a favorite pastime, whether it was for movie nights with mac n cheese and peas or playing checkers.
Christine had an innate ability to find the truth – she was remarkably investigative and had a wonderfully sardonic sense of humor. Her vocabulary skills were second to none, and she was a master of -dles (Wordle, Nerdle, etc.), which she loved sharing with her family. She was also an avid walker, often walking upwards of five miles at a time.
Christine is predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law, Charlie Carpenter. She is survived by her husband, Duncan; daughter Jacqueline (Jeffery) Andersen; son, Stuart (Danielle); granddaughter Julia Andersen; siblings Rosanne Carpenter, Peter Schulick, and April Stein; nieces and nephews Erika Carpenter, Natalie (Chris) Bradshaw, Emmarae Stein, Paul Schulick and Sam Schulick; grandnephew, Austin Bradshaw; and many dear friends.
