Gates - Born 1929, passed away October 7, 2020. Predeceased by his wife Kalliopi; father Adoni; mother Panagiota; 5 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his son John (Mary Ellen) Diamantopoulos; devoted daughter Penny Diamantopoulos; grandsons Christopher & Anthony Diamantopoulos; great-grandson Lucas; loving grandpups Lola & Trina.
Christos was a decorated Korean War Veteran where he fought for his home country of Greece. He graduated from culinary school in Europe where he launched his career and traveled all over the world cooking. He became the chef for Aristotle Onassis aboard his yacht "The Christina". Christos cooked for many celebrities of the 50's era including Sir Winston Churchill, Prince Ranier and Grace Kelly. He then migrated to Toronto, Canada where he met the love of his life and married. He launched several restaurants and bakeries in Toronto before moving to Rochester, NY where he opened the Village Diner in Spencerport, NY, from which he finally retired.
Friends may call Monday 5-6 PM at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit. Trisagion prayer service will follow at 6 PM. Interment will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit 835 South Avenue Rochester, NY 14620
