David Gilfoy

May 9, 1929 — October 19, 2015

Gilfoy, David C. Hilton: October 19, 2015. Passed away after a long bout with Parkinson's Dementia. Predeceased by wife, Sandy (Lazzara) Gilfoy and sister, Anne Ledger (Dartmouth NS), Survived by loving wife of almost 18 years, Patricia Meredith Mets; brother, Harry Gilfoy of Dartmouth, NS; son, David (Theresa) Gilfoy; nieces and nephews. After leaving Nova Scotia at age 30 to pursue a career in Newspaper printing and bouncing from city to city in the USA, David met Sandy, got married and made Rochester his home. After son David was born they settled in Webster, NY. David worked for the Times-Union Newspaper and later the Democrat and Chronicle for over 30 years. He served as a local Topographical Union Secretary for many years. Years after Sandy passing God's grace led David to Patricia. The two lived happily in Greece, NY for many years where David became involved with their church, Redeemer Lutheran. The two later moved to Hilton, NY but stayed involved at Redeemer until the Parkinson was too much. David enjoyed movies, golf, reading and crossword puzzles and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. His knowledge of movies, sports and other trivia was spectacular. His last earthly home was St. John's Home. Thank you to everyone there, that made him comfortable and treated him so well all the days he was there. Friends may call 3-7 Wednesday at the funeral home, 777 Long Pond Rd. (between English and Latta). Family and friends may gather at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1549 Dewey Ave. 10AM Thursday for his Funeral Service. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in David's name may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1549 Dewey Ave., Rochester, NY 14615.
