Deborah "Debbie" E. Logan, 66, passed away on July 23, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents Stewart & June, her brother Stewart Jr., and sister Linda Raschke. She is survived by her loving daughter Junella (Mark) Goho, her beloved fiancé Raimonds Reijers, as well as her cherished grandchildren Anneliese, Dorian, & Brinley; her sister Ann Reynolds, her aunt Francis Slaven, her cousin Arleata Abdullah, and her dear friend Myrna Driffin. She will be remembered by many many nieces, cousins, and friends.
Debbie, born into a family with an enduring legacy, took immense pride in her father being the first black teacher in Elmira, NY. She faced adversity at a young age, losing her mother at just 13, but navigated her way to adulthood with resilience and determination. With her father's guidance, Debbie had the opportunity to receive the best education possible in Roselle, New Jersey attending Lincoln Elementary and Abraham Clark High School. She shone brightly in school as an exceptionally good student. Her ability to turn hardship into empowerment was testament to her insightful nature and intelligence.
She found joy and empowerment in music, especially songs with meaningful messages. A fond memory remains of her youthful adventure on stage with Stevie Wonder at the War Memorial, thanks to her mother's arrangements, an event she enjoyed wholeheartedly despite her visual impairment. Her adventurous spirit and playful heart resonated through her life, never letting her blindness overshadow her fierce determination.
Debbie was a devoted mother who adored her daughter, Junella, with every fiber of her being. Her love was expressed daily and Junella never had a day without knowing her mother's deep affection. Debbie's grandchildren, Anneliese, Dorian, and Brinley, were the light of her life, each moment with them was a treasure, both to her and them.
Her life was further enriched by her relationship with her fiancé, Raimonds Reijers. Their companionship, which began in Kindergarten, blossomed into a lifelong bond of love and mutual respect.
Debbie was a devout believer in Christ, a committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2nd Ward. Her faith remained unshaken, and even during the uncertain times after Covid-19, she continued to engage in online services every Sunday.
She was admired for her keen intellect, and her sense of humor was both sharp and endearing. Her warm spirit, laughter, and deep love for her family will forever be remembered.
A memorial service in celebration of Debbie's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 5th, at Orchard Community Church. The family invites those who loved Debbie to join them in remembering and celebrating her extraordinary life. Refreshments to follow.
She leaves a legacy of strength, love, and resilience that will forever resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be profoundly missed.
"Words seem so feeble, in moments like these. Life is so precious, and death such a thief. The depth of your pain I cannot comprehend, but I'll stand alongside you in the darkness, my friend. Love is a bond that death cannot part. Gone from your arms, but still held in your heart" - Unknown (added by Myrna Driffin)
