Passed away peacefully, Monday February 22nd 2021 at age 89. Went home to be with his beloved wife Barbara C. Thompson, of 57 years.
He is survived by his loving daughter Patricia Bennet, and his sister Carol Landahl as well as nieces, nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Martha (Krauss) Thompson, brother Richard Thompson; Sister Geraldine Thompson; Nephew Patrick Thompson; Brother in Law Irv Landahl; and Son in Law Richard K. Bennet.
He retired from Kodak, where he worked as an electrician for 25 years, soon after retiring to Largo Florida with his wife Barbara. Don was a proud Navy Veteran, serving four years in Bermuda at the end of the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion, and the Manitou Yacht Club.
Don loved boating and fishing. He took boat trips to Fairhaven each summer, and traveled to Canada on yearly fishing trips with his friend and brother. Singing was his passion. He enjoyed singing and performing at karaoke events which showcased his beautiful voice.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 2, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. followed afterward by a Memorial Service from 6:00-6:30 p.m. at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Rd, Rochester NY, 14612.. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to, The American Legion, Donation Processing PO Box 361626, Indianapolis, IN 46236-1626 or, on-line at https://www.legion.org/ or to Veteran’s Outreach, Veteran’s Organization in Rochester NY, in Donald’s memory.
