Passed away January, 24th 2024 at age 73 after a brief stay at Hildebrandt Hospice Center.
He is predeceased by his parents Stephen M. and Genevieve Stanek, sister Janice Shedd (Tom) and brother Donald. Survived by his wife Cynthia Stanek; children Eric (Melissa) Stanek, Sheila (John) Krautwurst, Kimberly (Michael) Hague; grandchildren Sydney (Marcos) Espada, Selena Hernandez (Sean Slattery), Kaitlyn Stanek, Alexander "AJ" (Colleen) Hernandez, John "LJ" Krautwurst; great-grandchildren Marcos, Mayliz, Mateo, Mya, Logan, and Myles; several brothers and sisters in law as well as nieces and nephews.
Douglas was an engineer through R.I.T and worked for Kodak in the Roll Coating Division before retirement. After retirement he was a school bus monitor to Greece Schools. He volunteered at Bethany Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, and for Greece Athena's middle and high school musicals. He enjoyed boating, reading, puzzles/crosswords, bowling, playing softball and poker, his dogs, volunteering, the NY Giants, traveling and spending his Friday nights at Wood Kettle Brewing. He loved his family and friends. Although quiet, he had a great sense of humor and would do anything for anyone with his heart of gold.
Calling hours will be held 4-6pm Friday March 8th at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services 777 Long Pond Road. Funeral Service 11:00am Saturday March 9th at Bethany Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pastors Discretionary Fund at Bethany Presbyterian Church. After the Saturday service, all are welcome to join Doug's family at 1:00 at the American Legion (344 Dorsey Rd, Rochester NY 14616) for lunch and the sharing of memories
