Frances V. Bishop (Boynton)
Peacefully, on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at age 96
Predeceased by her husband; Jack, six brothers and one sister. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Bishop Belnap and Peg (Joe) Ehrmantraut; four sons, Kevin (Therese), Jim (Lisa), Paul (Diane) and Bill (Cindy); 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; and her sister-in-law, Geri Boynton.
Fran was born on April 9th, 1924 in Ithaca, NY. During her youth the family moved to Brighton, NY. During World War II, Fran worked as an assembler at Stromberg-Carlson building walkie-talkies to support the war effort. She met and married Jack Bishop in 1951, and they raised six children at their home on Ridgeway Avenue in Rochester. Fran was a stay-at-home mom. She was an avid reader of biographies and books related to World War II history. Fran also enjoyed music, and she loved playing her Lowery Genie organ.
Fran was a constant source of humility, patience, and kindness in her family’s lives. She was a devout Catholic who will be remembered for her deep faith, her devotion to her children, and her love of the New York Yankees.
Fran lived the final three years of her life at St. Ann’s Community on Portland Avenue. Her family would like to thank the staffs of both Saint Ann’s Community and Lifetime Care Hospice for their loving care and support.
A funeral mass and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Contributions in Fran’s memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Cathedral Community or to Saint Ann’s Community.
