Frederick Daniel Schlitzer. He was 75. Born and raised in Rochester, graduating from Sacred Heart Cathedral School and John Marshall High School, Fred (Dan to family) was a US Army veteran. After Officer Candidate School, served in Germany as a Russian translator; he was fluent in both German and Russian. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Rochester, graduating with a degree in Geological Sciences, using it for almost two decades in oil & gas exploration in Texas and adjoining states before beginning a second career at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in St Louis, MO. As a consequence of making many close friends, he called New Braunfels and Webster Groves his home, apportioning his time in each with the weather.
Fred was predeceased by his loving parents, Frederick W. and C. Virginia Schlitzer, and many beloved dogs, including Spot, Gus, Bingo, Topper, Smokey, Nella, Mary, Al .... Our brother is survived by siblings Virginia DiBacco, Susan McNamara (VanDerwarker), John Schlitzer, Elizabeth Horrocks and Christina Seibert, as well as ten nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday (April 26) at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Wednesday (April 27) at Our Mother of Sorrows Church followed by an interment ceremony at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (east side).
