Gerard D. Gombatto

August 2, 1945 — August 18, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerard “Jerry” D. Gombatto (August 2, 1945-August 18, 2024), a husband, father, papa, friend, and deeply loved individual. His loyalty and dedication to his family and friends was unwavering. With great humor, unmatched wit, and compassion, he created lasting relationships in every facet of his life.

Jerry proudly owned and operated a general contracting business for more than 40 years, while simultaneously working as an Operations Supervisor at the Monroe County Airport for 32 years. In addition to his love of carpentry and construction, he had a deep passion for restoring classic cars, and collecting and selling antiques and tools. He enjoyed listening to oldies music and spending time with friends and relatives at various garages and shops around the City of Rochester.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Linda; his four children: Kim (Robert) Wright, Kristine (Eric) Wiegand, Philip (Heide) Gombatto, Jerry (Sara) Gombatto; his nine grandchildren: MacKenzie (Jace) Magavern and Maxwell Wright (Jessica); Alex and Jake Wiegand; Olivia (Dominic), Jack, and Joey Gombatto; Sofia and Rose Gombatto; and his sister Annette (widow of the late John Vincent). He also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Philip and Rose Gombatto; siblings: Joe (Harriet), Angelo (Glenna), Dominic (Vera), Anthony (Shirley) Gombatto, and Marylou (Joe) Fingland; nieces Roselyn Loomis, Laurie Gombatto, and Michelle Garrigan; great-nephew Tony Gombatto; and in-laws Mary and Steve Monti.

Jerry took great pride in his family and was an incredible husband, father, and papa. He will be missed dearly by all. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center for their extraordinary care, kindness, and support. Services to honor and celebrate his life will be scheduled at a later date.
