Greece - Passed away peacefully on September 25, 2020 at age 86. Predeceased by her mother Ruth Dohl; son John O'Connell; grandson Shane Dempsey. Survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law Danny & Peggy and their daughters Kelly, Kasey (Jonathan) Mueller, and Kerry; her great-grandchildren, the lights of her life Joey, Addison and Kaia. Also surviving her are her sister Betty (Frank) Sidoti; son-in-law Teddy Kovaleski; grandsons Brandon & Christopher; granddaughters Shannon & Ryleigh Dempsey. Joan is also survived by the many teachers, students and staff at Kirk Road Elementary School. She was the original secretary to the principle starting in 1968 until retirement 35 years later. Joanie worked hard to provide for her family as a single mother for many years. Thanks Mom! Special thanks to the kind, caring, and courteous staff at GrandeVille Senior Living Community. She wasn't there long but she touched the staffs hearts as she did with people throughout her life with her warmth and humor. She was one tough Irish lassie! Fly on our sweet angel. Friends may call Wednesday 4-7 at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road. Memorial Mass Thursday 10 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Church. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
