Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on November 5, 2024 at age 90. He is predeceased by his wife and love of his life Lydia; daughter Jeanine Hampton; brothers and sister. Survived by his children Perry (Elizabeth) Hampton, Johnny (MaryBeth) Hampton, Mark (Toni) Hampton, Andria (Nicholas) White; grandchildren Andrew, Aaron, Joseph, John (Elizabeth), Kevin (Jessica), Jack, Emma (Colby), Nicole (Anthony), Peter, Johnny (Chelsea); great-grandchildren Noah, Lukas, Olivia, Gianna, Owen, Levi, Havyn, Nora, Theodore; several special nieces and nephews.
John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served as an aerial photographic crew-member over the skies of the Pacific where he documented inland waterways, coastal routes, and was instrumental in photographing atomic weapons testing in the Marshall Islands. John continued his service to our nation until June of 1959.
John’s commitment to his Catholic faith began at an early age. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary and Aquinas High School. He continued throughout his life by attending mass regularly. His discipline in prayer and contributions to Catholic based ministries were all essential elements of his life.
A funeral mass will be held 11 AM Tuesday, November 12 at the Church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary 152 Main Street, Brockport, NY 14420. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
