After a long illness, at the age of 73, John passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024 in Rochester, N.Y.
John is predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Bertha Hover, Newark Valley N.Y.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia (Gray) Hover; two sons, Brett (Kayleigh) and Cody (Nicole) Hover and grandchildren Jaxon, Logan and Olive. He is also survived by his sister, Joann (Alan) Reinnagel, brother Robert “Bob” ( Donna) Hover, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and devoted friends, Peter Davis, Frank Bower, and Diane Gillian.
John was a true entrepreneur who founded Hover-Davis in 1989. It became the worldwide leader in component delivery systems for the assembly of circuit boards. Under John's direction, Hover-Davis integrated novel technologies and Patents which revolutionized the circuit assembly industry. In 2000, the company was awarded the number one place on the RBJ Rochester Top 100. Having achieved his professional goals, John sold Hover-Davis to follow his dream which was guided by the “North Star”.
John's passion for golf took him to Harbor Springs, MI, where he spent his final years building a prestigious championship golf course, ironically named “True North”.
John will be remembered as a humorous friend with a serious business side. He was known as a genuine, kind-hearted, and compassionate individual who would do anything to help others. John was adored by all those who had the good fortune to have known such a remarkable person.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, July 12th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, located at 777 Long Pond Road, Rochester 14612. A service to immediately follow at 6:00 PM.
