John Hulbert

Greece: September 28, 2014. John Matthew Hulbert was born September 25, 1939 in Olean, NY and grew up in Bolivar, NY. Predeceased by his parents, Elba & Helen Ward Hulbert; sister, Margaret Hulbert Rangatore; brothers, Gerald Hulbert and James Hulbert. John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sue Murtagh Hulbert; his son, Mike (Michelle) Hulbert; daughters, Michele (Wayne) Balch and Stephanie (Del) Allen; grandchildren, Michaela & Liam Hulbert, Jessica & Andrew Balch, Ryan Allen; sisters-in-law, Marian (Joe) Leone, Barbara Hulbert; numerous nieces, nephews & friends. John graduated from Bolivar HS in 1957, attended St. Bonaventure University and graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving 18 months in Korea. John worked as an Engineering Technician at Eastman Kodak for 28 years in Quality Control, Building 135. Upon retiring in 1991, John joined the Greece Central School District driving students and sport teams safely for 20 years. An avid golfer, John was a member of Dearfield CC (1980-1988), Lakeshore CC (1988-present) and Glen Eagle CC in Naples, FL (2003-present). He loved his model trains, bowling & watching his children and grandchildren play in sporting events.



Friends may call Friday 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 777 Long Pond Road (between English & Latta). Funeral Mass, 9:30 AM Saturday at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd. Interment at the convenience of the family.
