John M. Kiereck

March 15, 1942 — June 1, 2024

John Michael Kiereck, Sr. passed unexpectedly into the arms of the Lord on Saturday June 1, 2024.  John was predeceased by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Kiereck, mother Theodora Kiereck, father Edward Kiereck, sister Maria Kurycki (John), brother Thomas Kiereck, nephew Matthew Kiereck, and niece Dawn Kiereck.  John is survived by his son, John Kiereck Jr (Alice), brothers James Kiereck and Joseph (Marcy) Kiereck, sisters Veronica Kiereck, Deborah Sunbeck (Phillip Profeta), Mary Rita (Robert) Kurycki, sister-in-law Mary (Rodney) Reisdorf, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and his special friend, Mary Skinner.  He also leaves behind the light of his life, granddaughter Emma Kiereck.

Born March 15, 1942, John was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a missileer during the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He would often share stories of his time in the service, fondly remembering his time stationed in Kansas.  Later in his life, John became an active member of local and national veterans groups like the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20, reconnecting with his Air Force roots.  He was also a proud participant in the Rochester Honor Flight program, traveling with his son, John, to Washington D.C.on Mission 60.

An avid outdoorsman, John spent many happy weekends hunting at “the farm” with family and friends and fishing at Naples Creek.  Even at home, John could often be found outside working in the yard or making sure the pool was ready for the next party.  No leaf or twig was safe on his watch.

Preserving memories was a passion for John.  He was never far from his camera and always ready to capture the moment.  He was always happy to look through photos and share stories of times gone by.   Thanks to John, we’ll always be able to remember each special moment.

Calling hours will be held from 4-6 pm on Friday June 14th at the Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home in Greece, NY.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church, also in Greece, at 9:30 am on Saturday June 15th followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20, Rochester, NY or Honor Flight Rochester.
