John 'Jack' A. Timmons Sr.

Passed away August 2, 2024 at age 100. He is predeceased by Lydia, his loving wife of 66 years. Survived by his children Jack (Nancy) Timmons Jr., Dave (LeeAnn) Timmons, Mary (Mark) Graupman, Brian (Michele) Timmons; grandchildren Becky Timmons, Janet (Jonathan Roberson) Timmons, Matt (Emily) Graupman, Andy (Tammy) Graupman, Dave (Mandie Wickham) Graupman, Dan (Nikki Smith) Timmons, Jake (Emily Finn) Timmons & Alyda Timmons; great-grandchildren Jackson, Eli, Hannah, Joe Graupman and Andy Wickham.

Jack is also survived by his loving companion, Rosemary Sage.

Friends may call 4-7pm Friday August 9th at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services 777 Long Pond Road. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday August 10th at Spiritus Christi Church, 121 Fitzhugh St N, Rochester, NY 14614. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Jack was born in Dundee, Scotland and moved to the United States when he was very young. The family settled in a home on Hampton Blvd and he attended School 38, Holy Cross and Charlotte High School. He eventually received an advanced degree from the Rochester Mechanics Institute, now known as RIT. When he was in high school he rose to the rank of Caddy Master at Lakeshore Country Club where he was in charge of 150 caddies.

After high school he worked in Emulsion Research at Kodak Park before voluntarily enlisting in the Army Air Corp. After basic training he was sent to Embry Riddle Aeronautical College in Florida where he earned a degree in aircraft mechanics. He served in WWII and was charged with the repair and maintenance of B-17 and B-59 bombers. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant before he was Honorably Discharged at the end of the war.

Post-active military service, he joined the Air Force Reserves and did a brief stint at the Genesee airport working on, and piloting, planes in the NorthEast. He was a member of American Legion Post 468 and Honor Flight Rochester mission #3.

He met the love of his life, Lydia Kuitems, and they were married in 1950. With the responsibilities of a new wife and child, Jack Jr., he decided to go back to work at Kodak as a sheet metal apprentice. As his family grew with the addition of Dave, Mary and Brian, so did his assignments at Kodak. He rose to the level of Department Head in the Dental X-ray, Super 8mm and 35 mm Positive departments.

He was always very involved in community activities. He was a leader in the Men's Guild at Cardinal Mooney High School and Holy Name of Jesus parish. He was also president of Braemar Country Club for many years.

He retired from Kodak in 1983 and, instead of planes, he began to pilot motor homes. Annual trips to Florida and a 6,000 mile trip around the perimeter of the United States are among the highlights. Always one to lend a hand, he became involved in motorhome clubs at the local and national level.

Upon the death of his beloved Lydia in 2016 he decided to move to The Village at Unity where he met a very special friend, Rosemary Sage, in 2018. After independent living became too much he decided to move to Mill Landing where he lived until the end.

Jack has always been grateful for the many blessings in his life. He had an unconditional love for his family and everyone around him and he loved his family at Spiritus Christi church. Despite his many accomplishments he always remained humble and was an exceptional role model to his children. As he was apt to say, "Life is good", and he made it that way for all of us.

He will be missed.
