Lawrence Goodwin

May 15, 1948 — December 21, 2021

Lawrence “Larry” Lee Goodwin

Larry went home to be with the LORD on December 21, 2021 at the age of 73. He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Shirley Goodwin. Survived by his wife of 53 years Carol; sons Larry (Karen) & Eric (Lora); grandchildren Rachel (Joey O’Hara), Nathan, Madeline, Kaitlyn (Eian) Dougherty, Alexander (Esther), Matthew, Emily, Luke (Julianne), Carolyn, Samuel, & Abigail; great-grandchildren Luke & Charlotte Dougherty and Malachi Goodwin; brother Ron (Sally Lambert) Goodwin; sister Patti (Bob) Bischoff; several nieces and nephews.

Larry was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Marshall, Michigan. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1966. He was a track and cross country runner for the High School teams and enjoyed running for many years following his graduation. Larry worked for Eaton Corporation for 30 years until he retired in 1997. One of Larry’s great joys was to help his brother Ron, almost every weekend for 21 years, with his D.J. business ‘The Northern Lights’. Larry was a loving and talented partner for his wife Carol as they served our LORD Jesus through 30 years of outstanding youth ministry at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall, Michigan and Lord of Life in Elburn, Illinois. Together they blessed many lives through sharing the love of God in Jesus Christ. They were involved in several mission trips for the Church both national and international. In his final years Larry was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Springville, NY where his youngest son serves as Pastor. Larry was blessed with a servant-heart and would help anyone in need. He was a Mr. Fix-it Man and was always willing to help. Larry was an avid golfer. He loved to talk about his chance to play the Legendary Course at Pebble Beach with his oldest son Larry in 1993. Larry also had a passion for working on cars, especially his Chevelle and Fierros. He was a wonderful man of God and a great friend to many. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family; being a husband to his soulmate, dad to his sons and Papa to his grandkids. He will be deeply missed, but we look forward to our glorious reunion in heaven.
