Maria S. Thorpe

On may 30^th 2024, heaven gained another scouter, mom and an angel at the age of 92. Maria S. Thorpe passed away with her daughter by her side.

She is predeceased by five brothers and four sisters in law William (Helen), Edward (Jean), Karl (Shirley), Walter (Lois), Paul Steinmetz. Sisters and brothers in law Robert (Mary) Thorpe, Shirley (Alex) Kemp, Winfred (Robert) Fisher, Rita (Chuck) Sadewasser. Survived by her daughter and son in law Heidi (Ken) Thorpe-Messmer. Her sister and bother in law Pat (Vic) Gundrum , two granddaughters Lynne (Chris) and Ryan (Aaron), three great grandchildren Raymond, Mia, and Ari; one great great granddaughter, Quinn Grace and her fur grandbabies; many nieces and nephews, and scouting friends. Maria also leaves behind a very special group of angels at Grandville senior living community (You know who you are).

Maria retired from Tops Food Market at 83. She enjoyed being a girl scout leader and a boy scout council trainer. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading and playing poker.

We all have a legacy that we want to leave behind. Marias was this:

She may not have had the best but she never complained and was the first person to give whatever others needed. Her motto was this “ I am not the rabbit, I do not need to be at the head of the line or finish first. I am the turtle, slow and steady. It may take me a little longer but the end response is this; ‘it will all work out in the end ‘ I also made it to the finish line too!”
