It is with deep sadness and enduring gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved Marian Staples, born October 26, 1924, who left us peacefully on October 3, 2024, at the vibrant age of 99.
Marian was truly the heart and soul of our family. She was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her life was a testament to the power of family and community, and she instilled in all of us the importance of caring for one another. She never met a person she wouldn’t feed, and her open arms extended to all—family, friends, and even strangers who quickly became extended family.
Known for her fiery spirit, Marian had a quick wit and a joyful energy that brightened every room she entered. Her zest for life was matched only by her deep love for her family. She taught us the importance of resilience, humor, and above all, kindness.
She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Staples. She leaves behind her children Steve Staples (Nancy), Lynda Cutt (Sid), Patricia Bestor, Jim Staples, and Eileen Slocum (Bill); 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren, and countless others whose lives were touched by her incredible warmth and great spirit. We will forever cherish her memory, and though we will miss her dearly, her spirit will continue to live on in each of us.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 7, at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services. The funeral service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. She will be buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. We invite all those who knew and loved her to join us in sharing stories, laughter, and tears as we honor a truly remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to help close family members with cancer, reflecting her lifelong passion for helping family and others. Please send donations to: Eileen Slocum, 286 Pearson Lane, Rochester, NY 14612, note: Marian Staples legacy
