Passed away December 30, 2022 at age 92. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Joan “Fran” Okita. Survived by his devoted children Denise (Ken Willick) Okita, and Patrick (Shelley Griewahn) Okita; loving grandchildren Robin & Kevin Willick and Jessamine Griewahn-Okita; his dear Tsuzuki Oki family; Hiroshima cousins; nieces and nephews.
Masao retired from the US Army after serving for 20 years, including tours in both Korea and Vietnam. Upon leaving the military, Mas served as Administrative Director of the Emergency Department at Strong Memorial Hospital for 15 years. He then worked as an agent for New York Life Insurance Co. and later New York Group Administrators. Mas was a dedicated volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Micrecycle, and a 60-year member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He was a member of both Grace United Methodist Church and Aldersgate UMC. A quiet and unassuming family man, Mas enjoyed a lifelong interest in electronics, mastered the arts of tinkering and DIY, cherished and supported his family and friends unconditionally.
Calling hours will be held 1-3 pm Saturday, January 14, concluding with a service at 3pm at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services. Private Entombment. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to ERAC Lodge #154 F.&A.M. Damascus Shrine Center, 979 Bay Road Webster, NY 14580, or a charity of your choosing.
