Nancy M. Bartlett

March 18, 1939 — April 20, 2024

Nancy Bartlett (nee Monahan) passed away in Rochester, New York on April 20, 2024. She was born to R. Caryl and Gertrude Curran Monahan on March 18, 1939, in Johnstown, New York. Nancy graduated as Salutatorian of the Johnstown High School Class of 1956. She went on to graduate Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Saint Rose in 1960. Shortly after graduating, Nancy moved to Rochester for a job writing early computer codes for Kodak, where she worked for about two decades as a pioneer woman in the field.

Nancy married Dave Bartlett on June 30, 1962, and their only son, Michael, was born in September 1963. When Dave left in the late 1960s, raising Michael, who had spina bifida and hydrocephalus, became the focus of Nancy’s life. She ensured that Michael led a fun and adventurous life, travelling all over the United States to experience nature and sports, visit friends and family, and live the fullest life possible.

After Michael died in 1997, Nancy grieved deeply but began a new chapter, spending more time with her sister, nieces and nephews and group of friends. She had a great time on cruises to the Carribean, Alaska, visiting Ireland and England, and otherwise finding adventure and fun in her life.

As her health began to fail just before the pandemic, Nancy moved from Lyndonville to Wolk Manor, where she made new friends. Her friend of 50 plus years, Paula Schenk, was steadfast in continuing to visit, play cards and comfort Nancy through her last years.

In addition to her parents and son, Nancy was predeceased by her sister Joan Monahan McCann, her great nephew Dan Gross, and all but one cousin. She is survived by her nieces Megan and Susan McCann (Jim Gross), nephews Greg (Michelle), Michael (Nok), Matthew and Mark (Debbie) McCann, and their cherished children, as well as her first cousins once removed Jim Conroy, Barbara Elmendorf, and Kathleen Collar.

May she rest in peace after a life honorably lived.
