Peter was born on August 3rd, 1937 to proud parents Walter and Evelyn in Rochester, NY. As he grew, Peter enjoyed things such as exploring nature with friends. He attended Monroe High School where he later graduated in 1956. After graduating high school, Peter joined the United States Navy where he served 2 years as a SeeBee working in the Caribbean and Cuba. After his years of service, Peter returned home and worked at Monroe Tree.
Following Monroe Tree, Peter started his career at Rochester Gas & Electric, where he worked for 34 years as Director of Claims & Insurance until his retirement in 1994. Over his long and distinguished career, Pete made hundreds of acquaintances that all became long-time friends. No one could resist his optimism and incredible work ethic. While working at RG&E, Peter furthered his education at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he graduated with a degree in Business Management.
After his retirement from RG&E, Peter moved on to begin new work with the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office where he became the Assistant Case Investigator. Peter thoroughly enjoyed his work and contributions and continued on with the Medical Examiner’s office until his passing.
Peter met the love of his life, Sharon, in 1958 at work. Peter wasted no time asking Sharon on their first date and the rest was history. They married in 1960, and shortly after in 1961 they welcomed their first child Susan, followed by Thomas(1963), and John(1964). Peter and Sharon recently celebrated 63 wonderful years of marriage together.
In 1989, Peter was blessed with his first grandchild, the late Mark “Markie” Bollin, and his world was changed. In the years following, Renee, Eric, Elena, Alec, Jaymee and Randy were born- and needless to say to anyone who ever had a conversation with Peter, they became his pride and joy. Peter was their number one fan at every sporting event and school achievement. A photography enthusiast, Peter was known to have his camera strapped around his neck and glued to his hand at every event- ecstatic to capture every moment possible and share it with his family and friends.
Peter was quite the food connoisseur with a passion for cooking. He always enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen and sharing his creations over big family dinners. He had a knack for talking the waiters' ears off at every restaurant they traveled to.
Another love of Peter’s was the game of golf. He helped to manage his men's league for over 20 years, where he created life-long friendships and memories.
His clever wit, loving and devoted heart, and contagious smile will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Peter’s life story will be shared during his visitation Thursday April 13th from 4:00-7:00PM at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services, 777 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday April 14th at 9:30AM at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N Greece Road. Entombment to follow at White Haven Memorial Park.
