Rita Mary Studley (Sheridan), of Greece, NY, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She lived 97 years full of faith, family, and friends, and leaves a legacy of love and kindness in her wake.
Rita was born on May 13, 1925 in Clinton, NY. After high school graduation, she attended the University of Rochester and earned her degree in nursing. In 1947, she married her beloved Robert “Bob” Studley and they spent the next 60 years raising their five children in Greece, NY.
Rita made friends far and wide and had an incredible memory. No matter the location, you could count on her to know someone there, or at least someone in their family. More often than not, she would say, “Oh, for heaven’s sake,” smile, and pick right back up with whomever she encountered.
She made these connections in many ways: working on the Mooney Follies; Our Mother of Sorrows church; golf; traveling with the Greece Choral Society; water aerobics at the YMCA; the Red Hat Society; and so many others. She touched many lives and leaves behind friends who will miss her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, who passed in 2007. She is survived by her five children - Anne Hilbert; Mary Lou (Jim) Newstead; Tom (Chris) Studley; Carol North; and John (Loreen) Studley. Her children, along with her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, loved and adored her. We count ourselves lucky to have shared so much of her life.
Calling hours will be held 1-3 PM on Sunday, July 17th at the Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, July 18th at Our Mother of Sorrows Church located at 5000 Mt. Read Blvd., followed by a private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s name can be made to Lollypop Farm or the Greece Historical Society.
