Robert McLellan Sr.

In the hope for the Resurrection, Robert Franics McLellan, Sr., passed away on the morning of Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Rochester NY at the age of 77. He is predeceased by his father Hugh McLellan and his mother Dorothy (Brennan) McLellan. He is survived by his wife Linda, his children; Christine (Fr. Nicholas) and Robert Jr., his grandchildren; Sasha (Maine), Patrick (Jaden), Ben (Marie), Ella (Vassily), and Andrew, his great granddaughters; Felicity, Ada, and Cecelia.

Robert was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 3, 1947. As a child his family owned a cabin on Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos of Pennsylvania. There he met his wife Linda as a child and the two were married on November 9, 1969. They moved to Lindenhurst, Long Island with their two children, Christine and Robert. After retirement Robert moved to Rochester, NY to be closer to his grandchildren. He was a loving and active “Grandpa” in his grandchildren's lives. He loved fishing with them, taking them to baseball practices, and would never miss a game or a dance recital. He is fondly remembered for his many funny and interesting stories he would tell about his life.

In his late age Robert converted to Orthodox Christianity and was baptized into the Orthodox Church on August 26, 2024. At his baptism he took as his patron, Saint Robert of Salzburg.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30pm on Monday October 28th.

Funeral will be Tuesday October 29th at 8:30 am followed by memorial meal and burial.

Services will be held at Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, 650 Landing Rd N, Rochester, NY 14625.

Following the meal, burial will be held at Saint John of San Francisco Orthodox Monastery 151 Heron Rd, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
