Robert Sutliff

Bob peacefully passed away on November 9, 2022 at age 93. He is predeceased by his wife Shirley; second wife Louise Sutliff; sister Joyce Charlton. Survived by his daughters Julie (John) Auger & Amy (Michael) Reinhardt; sons Mark (Jordu) & Matthew (Christine); 10 grandchildren; 3 step-children, Doug Abrey, Diane (Bill) Kirnie, and Tom (Tamara) Abrey and their families; sisters Joan Vossler & Bonnie Sutliff; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Bob was born in Fulton, NY in 1929, where he was raised during the Great Depression. Bob was an active parishioner of several churches throughout his life, and truly led a life that prioritized God, family, and work. He enjoyed golfing, billiards, card games, and the socialization that accompanied these activities. A warm and welcoming man, he would strike up conversation with just about anyone he met. Professionally, he was a draftsman initially, then attended the University of Rochester and earned his BS in Engineering. He shared credit for his degree with his wife Shirley, as she raised their children while he was working and attending school. He then practiced as an engineer and supervisor throughout his career at Kodak Park. He was a lifelong learner and artist who completed beautiful drawings, paintings, woodworking, and whittled figurines. He learned to play the guitar at age 82 and the piano at age 85, then performing concerts for other residents at his Independent Living facility. Whether living in Independent Living, Assisted Living or Nursing Care, Bob participated in many activities. He and his family greatly appreciated his caregivers and Bob enjoyed “finding the story” of each person along the way.

A memorial service will be held 10 AM Monday, November 14th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Hilton. Interment private for family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Hilton 158 East Ave, Hilton, NY 14468, Light Hill Comfort Care Home, 5160 Parrish Street Ext. Canandaigua, NY 14424, or a hospice agency of your choice.
