Passed away peacefully on July 27 at age 95. She is predeceased by her husband Anthony; son Robert; sisters Sally Gill, Mary Hovanus; and loving companion Lawrence Harrington. Survived by grandchildren Kelly (Tom) Mytych, Jennifer (Tim) McKendry, Whitney (Jon) Unrath, Lindsay (Zach) DeSantis, Anthony Gill, Sonata (Neil) Hill, Paris Gill; many great-grandchildren; sisters Eva Scipione, Gail Schilling; daughter-in-law Suzanne Gill; many nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was born in Verdun, Quebec in 1926. After moving to Rochester, she attended Corpus Christi and East High. She retired from Kodak after 30 years working in production. Sylvia was a loving wife and grandmother, a proud mother and supporter of law enforcement and a devoted Catholic. Sylvia enjoyed traveling, spending the winters in Myrtle Beach and shopping. She will always be remembered for her “sass” and “telling it like it is”. The family would like to thank the staff at The Wegman Family Cottages for their compassionate care over the last few years.
There will be a graveside service for Sylvia 2 PM Monday August 2nd at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Please meet at the Dewey Avenue Entrance. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Rochester Police Locust Club, 1425 Lexington Avenue Rochester, NY 14606.
